Amy Walker
Acquisitions Clerk III
Join us in congratulating Amy Walker for 25 years of service to the Cuyahoga Falls Library! Amy started in December 1996 - one month before her 17th birthday, when she was a junior at Cuyahoga Falls High School. Amy has been with us since then and currently serves as union president.
Here are a few fun facts about Amy!
In our Q&A with Amy, she shared some fun facts you probably don't know.
Tell us a bit more about your role and your favorite part about working at the Cuyahoga Falls Library. I work in the Technical Services department, where I order and help process new materials purchased by the library. My absolute favorite thing about working here is seeing all the books, movies, and items that come in. Libraries are so important, providing invaluable sources to the community. Lastly, all my coworkers throughout the years have been amazing. They're my family - a home away from home!
What do you like to do in your free time that's not library-related? I have a 6-year-old daughter that keeps me pretty busy most days. I love to read fiction and non-fiction, and I love to watch documentaries. I have a pretty wide range of interests, but true crime is probably my favorite. I am in the midst of starting up a true-crime podcast with 2 of my friends, who both used to work at the library.
Do you have any pets? I don't. But if my daughter has her way, it probably won't be too much longer before we get a pet.
Have you chosen a Bestow a Book? If so, what is the title/author, and why did you choose it? I have not picked a Bestow a Book yet this year. Every year, I feel the pressure to pick out a book that's just right. I want it to be a book that represents both my interests and things I think patrons would be interested in. Two books I've previously chosen are "The Phantom Prince, my life with Ted Bundy" by Elizabeth Kendall, and "Killers Keep Secrets" (about the Golden State Killer) by James Huddle.
Anything else you would like to share? One of the things that puts a smile on my face after working here for so long is seeing patrons who came here in strollers, now driving themselves to the library, and even bringing their children here. (Now I get to bring my child here too!) It makes me feel like this place is a family to patrons as well as coworkers!
The appreciation Amy shares for her library family is mutual. Here's what her coworkers said when asked to share about Amy:
"She works hard, is dedicated, and loves her home away from home for the past 25 years!"
"Amy laughs at everything, whether it's funny or not. She boosts my self-confidence when she laughs at my dumb jokes...Maybe she should stop that... "
"I appreciate Amy's attention to detail. She always has a handle on how much money is left on her purchase orders & tracks her orders through the process."
"I enjoy her sense of humor while still getting the job done. I also appreciate her love for Jerry Seinfeld."
